A Journey of Faith in a Changing Ireland
A one-day consultation for Christian leaders

Monday 6th November, 2006
Dr Joe McDonagh
Dr Marva Dawn
Irish Bible Institute
9.30am – 3.30pm

We are planning an important leadership day on Monday 6th November at the Irish Bible Institute, Dublin. The day is designed to help leaders explore the nature of change to the social and culture climate of Ireland and to consider the kind of leadership needed if the church is to engage with vision and compassion. In particular, we want to discuss how we equip both leaders and congregations for the challenges of a changing context.

Our day will be informal and interactive with opportunities to integrate the insights and experiences of participants. To provide structure and guidance for our time we have invited Dr Marva J Dawn from Regent College, Vancouver and Dr Joe McDonagh from Trinity College, Dublin. The programme below will give you a feel for the format.

To help focus the aims of the day we are inviting a limited number of people. This will facilitate dialogue and development of our theme and we would therefore value your involvement and participation. Also, we are keen that people commit to attending the whole day. As this is an opportunity for leaders to do some substantial work together it is always more rewarding if participants can start and finish the day together.

The event is being run in partnership with the Centre for Contemporary Christianity in Ireland, Evangelical Alliance Ireland and the Irish Bible Institute. All expenses for the venue and speakers are being covered by the three sponsoring organisations, however, it would be helpful if you could make a €5 donation on the day towards the cost of lunch.

If you are interested in attending this event, please contact EA Ireland: office@evangelical.ie or phone 01 8881111 by Friday, 27th October.

Joe McDonagh is a Senior Lecturer at Trinity College Dublin where his work focuses on leading large-scale change in complex systems of organisations. As a Christian, he is passionate about encountering God in all things. He is involved with two churches and is exploring the spiritual disciplines of different traditions as he seeks to work out how to live as a follower of Jesus in modern Ireland.

Marva Dawn is Teaching Fellow in Spiritual Theology at Regent College, Vancouver. Marva has taught at leadership and worship conferences throughout the world and is a respected theologian, author, musician and educator.
